Sam's Club vs. Costco

What are your thoughts?

orWe've been members of Sam's Club for 8 years. We go about every other weekend after church to pick up a few things and enjoy some yummy and cheap pizza.

This past Sunday, we decided to try out the new Costco that opened near us. Dave and I have heard great things about Costco and we wanted to start a membership. We got in line to sign up and it was very crowded. A few workers were handing out clipboards with the forms to fill out to join. One man said, "Think Executive Memberships, people!" That really turned me off and I wanted to leave at that point. How annoying.

However we stuck it out and joined. We then headed over to the food court area for pizza, hot dogs and soda. I was really annoyed to see that they only took cash and check at the food court area. I always use my debit card as credit everywhere. Even Sam's Club! It turns out I have to use a PIN in order to use my debit card to purchase items at Costco. I have no idea what my PIN is. I hardly ever have cash. Luckily, Dave had some and we got our food.

Now the pizza was yummy, but what a disappointment that there was no Dr. Pepper or Mr. Pibb! They had Coke products, but no Mr. Pibb. I had to eat pizza with Coke! ICK!

As you can tell, I was pretty ticked by that point and wanted my husband to go figure out how to return our membership cards to get our money back. He wasn't up for that, so we looked around.

Dave thinks that the electronics at Costco are better priced than Sam's Club. The only 2 deals I saw at Costco was the Transformers Devastator set for $75 ($99 elsewhere)
and a 3 piece set of Learning Resources pretend food baskets for only $19.99. These are usually at least $15 each.So which do you prefer Sam's Club or Costco? I didn't realize how loyal I was to Sam's Club. I guess I'm a Sam's girl!

We've Been Busy!

Wow, I haven't posted since Thursday. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Ours was spent laughing with family, eating some yummy food and relaxing.

Thursday evening, I spent the night at my Mom's since we were going to get to JCPenney's at 4 a.m. when they opened on Black Friday. I think I got 2 1/2 hours of sleep. My 30th birthday is in a few weeks, so my Mom and Dad gave me birthday money early and I bought the white dishes I've been wanting. The set is 72 pieces with 12- 6 piece place settings! That was the heaviest box I've ever carried.

We then met my sister Heather at Target and waited in line until they opened at 5 a.m. Dave wanted me to pick up a hard drive for him and Mom and Heather bought some toys. The line to check out was so long. It went down the main isle, past electronics, wrapped around health and beauty and stopped in front of the frozen foods! Luckily, it only took 1/2 hour to check out.

Home Depot was our next stop, where I wanted to get the 99 cent white light sets. I got 20 to change out my tree, garlands and wreaths from colored to white.

I then headed home and got in a bit of a nap before we headed to my SIL's for dinner.

Saturday and Sunday were spent decorating the house with Christmas stuff. Seriously, I'm glad I like the white lights, because after changing them all out they're staying that way for awhile!

Oh and I got a haircut! I live near TidyMom and found out that her oldest daughter is a hair stylist! I've been wanting to try something new, so I made an appointment with her. She was so nice and did a great job! It's great to have a new style after having the last one for 5 years. What do you think?

I'll post some more pictures of the Christmas decorations soon. I also made a really cool wreath that I can't wait to show you all for the Monthly Craft Challenge at Blue Eyed Blessings this week.
