This project is being linked up to Handmade Holidays over at The Snail's Trail.

For our stART project this week, Abby and I read Clifford's First Autumn.

For our stART project this week, Abby and I read Clifford's First Autumn.
Abby has always enjoyed Clifford, so she enjoyed this book as well.
Earlier this week, we took a walk and picked up lots of fall colored leaves. After reading Clifford's First Autumn, Abby sorted her leaves and picked the ones she wanted to use for our project.

I forgot where I saw this idea, but we made turkeys with the leaves. As you can see, Abby loved this! I love the face she drew on her turkey!
All I did was cut out two brown construction paper circles. The one for the face, being smaller. Abby used a small paint brush to glue the leaves on and then she decorated the face and glued it on top.
She said the turkey had to have legs, so I made some orange strips. After taking these pictures, I put a light coat of Mod Podge over the whole turkey. I thought it might keep the leaves from drying out too much. We'll see how it goes.
I'm so excited that we have started Thanksgiving crafts. After taking down all of the Halloween stuff, my walls are so bare!

Abby's turkey is so cute! I saw someone write somewhere about preserving leaves by mod podging them; hope it works for you!
Oh my gosh! That is the cutest turkey!!
Oh my, that is the cutest turkey! I love Thanksgiving crafts. Let us know how the mod podge works!
I wouldn't have thought about using leaves for tail feathers - what a good idea.
We love all things Clifford over here too! Cute project!

Oh, my gosh, Jenny, she is TOO CUTE. Love how excited she looks about the turkey! :)
That is a colorful and happy leaf turkey!
That is a really fun project. I don't think I've ever seen one like it. We collected a bunch of leaves the other day so we might have to make this.
I haven't even taken our Halloween decorations down yet. Guess I better get that taken care of.
I love this idea! Very fun feathers!
What a fun project! I love the smile on her face - she is so cute!

How very cute - I can see us making this craft sometimes too. Abbie did a great job with a face and overall construction. We have to look for this Clifford book as well.
The turkey is so cute!! I love the face she gave it!
We don't have any orange or pretty colored leaves around here. Everything is either still green or brown and crunchy. Fall in Northern CA isn't really that pretty!
I LOVE this turkey project! Thanks for the idea...I can't wait to do it with my kids!
So cute! You should link this to the Handmade Holidays at The Snail's Trail.
Turned out great! =)
